Tax Accountant – Temporary Contract

Manchester City Centre | Hybrid | 2–3 Month Contract | Mid-October Start

We are recruiting an experienced Tax Accountant to join the in-house tax team of a well-established group of businesses initial 2–3 month temporary contract, with the possibility of extension.

This is a hands-on UK corporation tax compliance role, supporting the preparation of tax computations across a large and varied group structure as part of the year-end compliance cycle.

The role would suit a tax professional with strong UK Corporation Tax experience and existing AlphaTax proficiency, who is comfortable managing a high volume of entities and working to tight deadlines.

The Role

Working closely with the Tax Manager and Tax Senior Manager, you will take ownership of a portfolio of UK entities and support the wider tax team through a busy period of year-end compliance.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing UK Corporation Tax computations for a large portfolio of group entities using AlphaTax.
• Managing your workload against the group's compliance timetable and ensuring deadlines are met.
• Working with Finance teams to obtain and validate trial balances, statutory accounts and supporting information.
• Reviewing and resolving queries, escalating more complex technical matters where appropriate.
• Maintaining accurate compliance records and tracking submission progress.
• Liaising with external tax advisors in relation to Corporate Interest Restriction (CIR), capital allowances and R&D claims.
• Ensuring advice and calculations from external advisors are accurately reflected within tax computations.
• Supporting capital allowances, group relief allocations and other tax adjustments.
• Monitoring quarterly instalment payments and other in-year compliance requirements.
• Supporting iXBRL tagging and HMRC submission requirements.
• Maintaining high-quality working papers and supporting the wider team with ad hoc compliance activities.
• Contributing to process improvement, automation and the team's planned AlphaTax upgrade.

About You

You'll ideally have:

• Proven experience preparing UK Corporation Tax computations, either in-house or within practice.
• Strong working knowledge of UK Corporation Tax compliance.
• Hands-on AlphaTax experience and the ability to work with minimal training.
• Experience working across a high volume of entities and delivering against tight deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to managing compliance work.
• Confidence liaising with Finance teams and external tax advisors.
• Knowledge of iXBRL tagging and HMRC submissions.
• Part-qualified or qualified ACA, ACCA, ATT or CTA (or equivalent) is desirable
