HR Manager – Food Manufacturing

We are recruiting an experienced HR Manager to join a well-established food manufacturing business in Manchester.

This is a hands-on HR leadership role supporting a busy manufacturing operation. You will work closely with site leadership, operational managers and production teams to deliver an effective people strategy, strengthen employee engagement and ensure HR practices remain compliant with UK employment legislation.

The role would suit an experienced HR professional who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, operational environment and enjoys being visible across the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to managers and employees.
• Manage employee relations matters including absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance cases.
• Support operational and production managers with effective people-management practices.
• Ensure HR policies and procedures remain compliant with current UK employment legislation.
• Drive employee engagement, retention and workplace-culture initiatives.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning.
• Identify training and development requirements across the business.
• Coach and support managers in developing their teams.
• Monitor HR metrics and identify trends affecting retention, absence and performance.
• Support succession planning and employee development.
• Work closely with senior leadership to deliver wider people and organisational objectives.
• Promote a positive, professional and people-focused working environment.

Candidate Requirements

• CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent.
• Previous HR management experience within food manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law.
• Strong employee-relations experience.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, production or operational teams.
• Confident handling complex HR matters independently.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Proactive approach to employee engagement, retention and development.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment.
• Commercially aware with the ability to balance employee and operational requirements.
