Job Title: Town Planner

Location: Manchester

Penguin Recruitment are delighted to be working with a growing planning consultancy who are looking to appoint a Town Planner to join their Manchester team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a planner looking to take the next step in their career and gain genuine exposure to a broad range of development projects.

The consultancy works across residential, strategic land, commercial and renewable energy projects, giving you the opportunity to work on a varied caseload rather than being restricted to one particular sector. You'll work closely with experienced planners and have the opportunity to take ownership of projects as your experience develops.

The Role

As a Town Planner, you'll be involved across the planning process, including:

* Preparing and coordinating planning applications

* Undertaking planning policy research and site appraisals

* Preparing planning statements and supporting documentation

* Providing planning advice to clients on development opportunities and constraints

* Supporting residential, strategic land, commercial and renewable energy projects

* Liaising with clients, local authorities and other consultants

* Assisting with appeals, representations and other planning matters

* Monitoring planning policy and emerging development opportunities

* Building strong client relationships and contributing to the growth of the business

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have 1-4 years' planning experience, gained within consultancy or a local authority environment.

You'll have:

* A degree in Town Planning or a related RTPI-accredited discipline

* A good understanding of the UK planning system

* Strong written and verbal communication skills

* Good research and analytical abilities

* The confidence to communicate with clients and planning authorities

* A proactive and commercially minded approach

* Ideally, progress towards MRTPI or an interest in working towards chartership
