Following a period of incredible growth my client, a supplier of consumables to the retail industry, now has an excellent opportunity for a Head of Health, Safety, Environment & Facilities to join their team. This role will cover multiple sites so the successful candidate can be based on either their Northampton or Manchester sites.

Role Purpose:
The Divisional Head of Health, Safety, Environment & Facilities (HSEF) is responsible for developing and delivering the divisional HSEF strategy, ensuring legal compliance, consistency, operational excellence and a strong safety culture across all sites within the division.
The role provides leadership, governance and assurance for all Health, Safety, Environmental and Facilities activities, protecting people, property and reputation whilst supporting the achievement of the division's strategic objectives. The Divisional Head of HSEF drives continuous improvement, environmental sustainability, risk reduction and operational resilience through effective management systems, stakeholder engagement and the development of a high-performing HSEF team.
As a Senior Manager directly influencing the divisional leadership community, the role works in partnership with operational and senior leadership to embed accountability for HSEF performance, ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, standards and company requirements, and create safe, efficient and sustainable workplaces that enable colleagues and customers to succeed
Key Accountabilities:
STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP
- Develop and implement the divisional HSEF and Safety Training strategy aligned to divisional and company objectives.
- Drive a proactive culture of safety, compliance, sustainability and continuous improvement.
- Act as the senior leader and subject matter expert for all HSEF and safety training matters across the division.
GOVERNANCE, COMPLIANCE and ASSURANCE
- Ensure compliance with all current and upcoming health, safety, environmental and facilities legislation, standards and company global standards.
- Maintain effective governance frameworks, policies and management systems.
- Lead the divisional audit, assurance and compliance programme including internal audits to deliver ISO standards across all sites and facilitate BUKI audit and action completion
- Ensure and lead certification and maintenance of relevant management systems, ISO and support BRC.
RISK MANAGEMENT and LEADERSHIP REPORTING
- Identify, assess and communicate HSEF risks, compliance gaps, safety training deficiencies and operational vulnerabilities.
- Ensure the Leadership Team has clear visibility of significant risk exposures and emerging issues.
- Present practical recommendations and mitigation plans to address areas of concern.
HEALTH, SAFETY and WELLBEING
- Drive the reduction of accidents, incidents, occupational ill-health and unsafe behaviours across the division..
- Oversee incident investigations and ensure robust root cause analysis and collation of evidence.
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
- Lead delivery of the divisional environmental and sustainability strategy.
- Drive carbon reduction, waste management and environmental improvement programmes.
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and standards.
TRAINING. COMPETENCE and CAPABILITY
- Define and implement the divisional HSEF competence and safety training strategy.
- Ensure mandatory, role-specific and leadership training requirements are identified, delivered and monitored for H&S
LEADERSHIP and TEAM DEVELOPMENT
- Lead, coach and develop the divisional HSEF and Training team.
- Build organisational capability through succession planning and talent development.
The successful candidate will be highly experienced in a Senior Health, Safety & Facilities role with the following skills / experience:
- Logistics / Distribution centre experience
- People management
- Influencing skills
- Financial acumen and commercial awareness
- IT literate
- Minimum of Level 6 H&S qualification, e.g. NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
- Able to Lead ISO and 45001
- Internal auditor
