Pay Rate: £14.47 per hour PAYE
Contract: Full Time Temporary Assignment (2 - 3 Months)
Manchester City Council are looking for a proactive and reliable Estate Officer to join its Parks Services team on a full-time temporary basis for the next 2 - 3 months.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the maintenance, safety and security of Manchester's parks, open spaces and community facilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality estate and facilities management services while acting as a professional first point of contact for customers, colleagues and members of the public.
Day-to-day of the role
- Deal efficiently and courteously with enquiries from members of the public and internal customers.
- Provide accurate information and resolve issues at the first point of contact wherever possible.
- Escalate complex queries appropriately while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
- Conduct routine safety checks, inspections and site monitoring activities.
- Maintain parks, open spaces, buildings and allotments to agreed safety and security standards.
- Undertake basic maintenance tasks and minor repairs to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
- Carry out general cleaning duties and use tools and equipment where required.
- Support the management and monitoring of financial resources, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
- Update and maintain management information systems accurately.
- Record inspection findings and submit requests for repairs and maintenance works.
- Use a range of equipment to ensure facilities remain safe and accessible for staff, visitors and service users.
- Assist with the security and safeguarding of buildings, vehicles, parks, allotments and other council assets.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to promote safe working practices and service excellence.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support ongoing service development.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working in a facilities, estates, parks, grounds maintenance, caretaking or property management environment.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to carry out site inspections, safety checks and basic maintenance tasks.
- Experience using IT systems to input, update and retrieve information.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of health and safety requirements within a public-facing environment.
- Flexible and proactive approach to work.
