Cover People in Manchester are recruiting for a specialist secondary school in the Manchester area, who are seeking an enthusiastic & proactive Complex Needs SEND Teacher to start September 2026, full time & long term, with the potential to turn permanent after that.
The Basics:
Role: Complex Needs SEND Teacher at a specialist secondary school in the Manchester area
Start: September 2026.
Contract: Full-time, long-term. Could go permanent after that.
Hours: Monday to Friday, full time.
Pay: £160-230/day DOE – paid PAYE direct via Cover People, we don’t use umbrella companies!
Equal pay to perm staff in same role from 13th week of your placement onwards.
NB.Mainstream Teachers with experience supporting pupils with complex needs, autism or within specialist/SEND settings are welcome to apply.
What you’ll get out of it:
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with complex needs.
- Assess and monitor pupil progress, contributing to EHCP outcomes and providing appropriate feedback.
- Promote a positive, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment where all pupils feel supported and motivated to learn.
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, support staff, school leadership, therapists and other professionals.
- Support the communication, emotional well-being, independence and academic development of pupils in your care.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively, using positive and appropriate strategies to create a safe learning environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, school events, training and professional development opportunities.

The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have QTS or QTLS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent.
- Be able to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with complex needs.
- Demonstrate strong classroom & behaviour management skills, with a calm and nurturing approach.
- Have a passion for SEND teaching and a commitment to improving outcomes for pupils with complex needs.
- Be a team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
- Be adaptable, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a specialist team.
What We Need from You:
- An up-to-date CV including a full education and work history.
- Proof of Right to Work & Address in the UK.
- A valid DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
- At least 2 professional references.
- A proactive, enthusiastic and hard-working approach.
