Ortus PSR
Independent Financial Adviser

Manchester | Hybrid Working | Employed or Self-Employed

Employed salary up to £75,000 plus bonus

Are you an experienced Financial Adviser looking for the freedom to grow your client base without having to manage every administrative and technical aspect yourself?

Ortus PSR is working with a progressive, planning-led wealth management firm seeking an Independent Financial Adviser to join its growing Manchester operation.

This opportunity is available on either an employed or self-employed basis and would suit an adviser who combines high-quality financial planning with the commercial drive to develop new client relationships.

You will receive comprehensive support from the firm’s in-house paraplanning, administration, investment and marketing teams, allowing you to concentrate on advising clients, building relationships and growing your practice.

The opportunity

You will provide holistic financial planning advice to individuals, professionals, entrepreneurs and business owners, helping them make informed decisions across investments, pensions, retirement and wider financial planning.

Alongside managing long-term client relationships, you will be expected to develop new business through referrals, professional connections, networking and the firm’s lead-generation initiatives.

This is not a role where an adviser is simply handed a static client bank. It is an opportunity for an established, commercially minded planner who wants to build something of genuine long-term value with the infrastructure and reputation of an established firm behind them.

Your responsibilities

  • Deliver holistic financial planning advice to new and existing clients.

  • Conduct detailed client reviews and identify appropriate planning opportunities.

  • Build and maintain trusted, long-term client relationships.

  • Develop new business through referrals, networking, professional introducers and company-supported lead generation.

  • Meet clients face-to-face and virtually, depending on their circumstances and preferences.

  • Work closely with the firm’s paraplanning, administration and investment teams to deliver consistently high standards.

  • Keep clients informed of relevant legislative, taxation and market developments.

  • Develop relationships with accountants, solicitors and other professional introducers.

  • Contribute to seminars, professional events, social media and wider marketing activity.

  • Maintain accurate records and uphold the firm’s compliance, regulatory and client-service standards.

What we are looking for

You should be:

  • Qualified to at least Level 4 Diploma standard in regulated financial planning, or an FCA-recognised equivalent.

  • An experienced and competent Financial Adviser with a strong record of delivering suitable, client-focused advice.

  • Able to demonstrate experience of attracting, converting and retaining clients.

  • Commercially driven without compromising client outcomes.

  • Confident developing relationships with professionals, entrepreneurs, business owners and private clients.

  • An articulate and credible communicator, both in person and virtually.

  • Comfortable using modern financial-planning technology and digital communication tools.

  • Proactive, organised and capable of managing your own pipeline and client relationships.

An existing client following or established network of professional introducers would be advantageous, although the strength of your business-development track record will also be considered.

What the firm offers

  • An employed salary of up to £75,000, plus performance-related earnings.

  • Alternatively, a self-employed structure for advisers seeking greater autonomy and earnings potential.

  • Hybrid working through the firm’s Manchester operation.

  • End-to-end support from experienced paraplanning, administration and investment teams.

  • Access to the firm’s marketing expertise and lead-generation programme.

  • Established technology and systems, including Xplan.

  • The backing of a trusted wealth management brand with an established market reputation.

  • Ongoing technical and professional development.

  • The opportunity to build a valuable client practice within a supportive business.

  • A potential practice buyout arrangement, providing an agreed exit route and the opportunity to realise value from the client base you develop, subject to the firm’s applicable terms.

This opportunity would particularly suit an adviser who wants the autonomy to grow their own client base while benefiting from the support, infrastructure and credibility of an established wealth management firm.

For a confidential discussion, contact Steve Auburn at Ortus PSR.
