Passive Fire Protection | Specialist construction services | UK-wide
Manchester (Hybrid working - travel to Manchester head office required)
up to £70,000 + bonus & benefits

Win major contracts | Build strategic relationships | Drive national growth.

An established and rapidly growing specialist contractor is looking to appoint an ambitious Business Development Manager to play a key role in its next phase of growth.

Operating within the Passive Fire Protection sector, the business has built a strong reputation for delivering specialist solutions across major UK construction projects. With increasing demand driven by legislation, compliance requirements and greater focus on building safety, the company is now looking to strengthen its commercial capability and develop new opportunities across the UK.

This is a genuine business development role with significant autonomy. You'll be responsible for identifying new opportunities, developing relationships with major contractors and clients and converting those relationships into profitable, long-term contracts.

It's an opportunity for an experienced construction-sector BDM to take ownership of a national territory and make a visible impact on the growth of an ambitious specialist business.

The opportunity:

Reporting directly to the senior leadership team, you'll take responsibility for developing new business opportunities across the UK.

A significant part of the role will involve developing relationships with Tier 1 contractors, principal contractors, developers and public sector organisations, understanding their requirements and positioning the business as a trusted specialist partner.

You will:

  • Identify target markets and customers, build relationships with key decision-makers and develop opportunities from initial engagement through to contract award.
  • Work closely with the operational and delivery teams to ensure opportunities are commercially viable and can be delivered successfully, while also developing existing relationships to generate repeat and long-term business.
  • Have the freedom to develop your own approach, supported by an established operational team and a business with ambitious growth plans.

The person:

We're looking for a commercially driven Business Development Manager with a proven track record of winning project-based work within construction or specialist contracting, ideally within Passive Fire Protection.

We are also interested in speaking with individuals from drylining, fit-out, M&E and other specialist subcontracting environments, where you have experience developing relationships with major contractors and winning comparable project work.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • A proven track record of winning new business within construction, specialist contracting or Passive Fire Protection
  • An understanding of construction projects, tendering and procurement processes
  • The ability to identify opportunities and develop them through to contract award
  • Strong commercial awareness and the confidence to engage senior decision-makers

Why this role?

You'll have genuine responsibility for creating new opportunities, developing strategic relationships and winning work.
You'll have:

  • The autonomy to shape your own business development strategy
  • The opportunity to work with some of the UK's leading construction organisations
  • A strong operational team behind you, allowing you to focus on developing the market
  • The opportunity to build a significant portfolio of new business

To apply:

If you're an ambitious Business Development Manager with experience winning work within Passive Fire Protection, drylining, fit-out, M&E or another specialist construction environment, this could be an opportunity to step into a role where your relationships, commercial ability and drive for growth will have a direct impact on the future of the business. Please submit your CV quoting reference 10529.
