Are you a part-qualified accountant looking for a role that will accelerate your development and give you exposure beyond the traditional Assistant Accountant position?
We're partnering with a growing international business that is investing heavily in its finance function and looking for an ambitious Assistant Accountant to join its collaborative Manchester-based finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with around 2-5 years of accounting experience who is actively studying ACCA or CIMA and wants to gain broader experience, take on more responsibility, and progress towards qualification.
You'll work closely with experienced finance professionals, gain exposure to international entities, and play a key role in month-end, statutory reporting, and financial control activities.
What You'll Be Involved In
Financial Reporting & Month-End
- Support the month-end close process, including preparing and posting journals.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
- Assist with intercompany reconciliations and transactions across multiple entities.
- Contribute to accurate and timely management reporting.
Statutory Accounts, VAT & Compliance
- Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts information.
- Support external audit processes and respond to audit requests.
- Prepare and provide data for VAT returns and other regulatory submissions.
- Work alongside international advisors to ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
Business Support & Process Improvement
- Partner with Accounts Payable and Billing teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Assist with financial analysis and ad-hoc reporting requests.
- Support finance improvement projects and strengthen internal controls.
- Help drive efficiencies across finance processes and reporting.
About You
We're keen to speak with motivated individuals who are serious about building a long-term career in finance.
You'll ideally have:
- 2-5 years' accounting experience within a UK-based finance environment.
- Actively studying ACCA or CIMA with a commitment to becoming qualified.
- Multi-entity or multi-currency accounting exposure.
- Experience within a corporate, professional services, or larger business environment.
- Experience with balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
- Exposure to VAT preparation and submissions.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence using finance systems/ERP platforms.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships across teams.
- The right to work permanently in the UK (sponsorship is not available).
