Role Overview We're recruiting on behalf of our global client for a site-based Data Centre Engineer to join a dedicated team delivering critical data centre services, Business-as-Usual (BAU) operations, and cabling infrastructure support for a prestigious international financial organisation in Manchester.

Role Overview We're recruiting on behalf of our global client for a site-based Data Centre Engineer to join a dedicated team delivering critical data centre services, Business-as-Usual (BAU) operations, and cabling infrastructure support for a prestigious international financial organisation in Manchester.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute day-to-day change control management, incident response, fault finding, and escalation in line with agreed SLAs.
- Perform Moves, Adds & Changes (MAC), racking, stacking, patching, and decommissioning of server and network hardware.
- Manage, track, and maintain accurate inventory records of all Data Centre assets and infrastructure documentation.
- Supervise and escort third-party vendors and external contractors on-site.
- Plan and implement IT hardware installations and structured cabling work adhering strictly to site standards and approved processes.
- Work closely with facilities providers to ensure governance, site maintenance, and maximum energy efficiency.
- Ensure full compliance with all Client and Support Services Health & Safety, Quality, and Data Centre Security procedures.
- Proven hands-on experience in a similar Data Centre or high-risk operational environment.
- Sound knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies, structured cabling, and networking concepts.
- Experience with basic server configuration (e.g., iDRAC, iLO), fault finding, and hardware maintenance.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work on own initiative as well as unsupervised within a shift team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all organisational levels.
- Ability to work a continuous 24x7x365 rotating shift pattern under pressure.
- Experience using ITSM ticketing platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy) and DCIM tools/standards.
- Competency in MS Office and service delivery/helpdesk applications.
- Previous experience operating within enterprise or corporate financial data centre environments.
