My Client, a leading accessories company, now has an exciting opportunity for a Product Development Coordinator to join their team.
Purpose of role:
The core purpose of this role is to support the delivery of commercially successful, on-brand accessory collections. Working closely with the Product Manager, Design, PLMs, Sourcing and suppliers, the Development Merchandiser will manage the product development process from design handover through to bulk production and launch, ensuring products are delivered to the highest standards of quality, cost, compliance and sustainability while meeting critical path timelines and supporting continuous improvement across the headwear, bags and accessories ranges.
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
- Own and manage the seasonal development critical path from design handover through to bulk production and launch.
- Ensure all development milestones including lab dips, PPS, MPS and gold seal approvals are delivered on time.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, leading regular communication to manage actions, deadlines and product development progress.
- Manage product development samples including lab dips, trims, fabrics and pre-production samples, ensuring all products meet quality standards.
- Maintain accurate product information across ERP and internal systems, including pricing, specifications, materials and compliance documentation.
- Work closely with Design, Product, Sourcing, Purchasing, QC and Marketing teams to support smooth cross-functional collaboration throughout the development process.
- Monitor target costs in partnership with PLMs and Sourcing teams, identifying risks and supporting commercially viable solutions.
- Review samples against tech packs and establish gold seal and master samples to ensure consistency and quality across all ranges.
- Coordinate product testing, inspections, packaging, labels and compliance documentation with suppliers and QC teams.
- Proactively identify and escalate any risks, delays or development challenges.
- Support Sales and Marketing teams with product-related queries, photoshoot samples and seasonal product information.
- Manage and maintain fabric and trim libraries while supporting sustainable material initiatives across the business.
- Support overseas factory visits and trade shows where required.
Experience Required:
- Experience within a product merchandising, development or sourcing role, ideally within accessories, fashion or branded consumer products.
- Proven experience managing critical paths and delivering products to agreed timelines.
- Experience working directly with suppliers and factories, including managing product development, approvals and production processes.
- Strong understanding of product specifications, sample management and quality standards.
- Experience maintaining accurate product data within ERP or similar systems.
- Demonstrable ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise workload effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience working to target costs and identifying cost risks.
- Confident communicator with the ability to build effective working relationships across internal teams and external suppliers.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
