SEN Learning Support Assistant – Make a Real Difference Every Day
Engage Education are currently recruiting passionate and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistants to work with a range of supportive schools across Manchester.
We are looking for caring, resilient and enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Support Workers, Youth Workers and individuals with a strong background in care or SEN to develop their experience within education.
The Role
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
- Support pupils to access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to provide personalised support.
- Support pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication needs and learning difficulties.
- Help pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills.
- Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Assist with differentiated learning activities and interventions.
- Implement strategies outlined in pupils' EHCPs and individual support plans.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Encourage engagement and help pupils achieve their individual goals.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEND.
- Experience in a school, specialist provision, PRU, care or youth work setting.
- A patient, calm and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to remain resilient when supporting challenging or dysregulated behaviour.
- A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a wider team.
Experience supporting pupils with autism, complex needs, SEMH, ADHD or challenging behaviour would be highly desirable.
A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is advantageous but not essential where the candidate has relevant experience.
