A dynamic international freight forwarder in Manchester is expanding its trade compliance team and hiring a Customs Clearance Specialist. If you have hands-on experience submitting import and export declarations and navigating UK customs procedures, this is a prime opportunity to advance your career in global trade.

Key Responsibilities:

• Declarations Processing: Prepare and submit accurate import and export customs entries via CDS (Customs Declaration Service) for air, ocean, and road freight.
• Tariff Classification & Compliance: Determine correct Commodity Codes, Duty/VAT rates, and CPC codes, ensuring full alignment with HMRC regulations.
• Documentation Review: Audit commercial invoices, packing lists, Bills of Lading, and certificates of origin for accuracy prior to submission.
• Customs Liaison & Problem Resolution: Communicate directly with HMRC, Border Force, and port health authorities to resolve queries, inspections, or clearance holds.
• Client Advisory: Advise key clients on Incoterms, duty relief schemes (e.g., IP/OP, bonded warehousing), and trade compliance best practices.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience processing UK customs declarations within a freight forwarding or logistics environment.
• Strong working knowledge of CDS, Tariff Codes, CPCs, and HMRC compliance frameworks.
• Proficiency with freight software (CargoWise, MultiFreight, ASM Sequoia, or equivalent).
• High attention to detail and the ability to operate effectively under time-sensitive port and airport deadlines.
