Role: Commercial Litigation Solicitor
Location: Manchester City Centre
Contract: Full time, permanent
Salary: £38,000 - £42,000
Our client is a specialist claimant-focused law firm with an established reputation across a range of complex litigation and dispute resolution matters.
Due to continued growth, the firm is looking to appoint a Commercial Litigation Solicitor to join its Manchester team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with experience in commercial litigation, civil litigation, financial disputes or a related area who is looking to develop their career within a growing specialist practice.
The successful candidate will handle a varied caseload of contentious matters, working with both individuals and businesses across a range of financial, commercial and civil disputes.
The role will provide exposure to a broad range of litigation, with the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge in areas including financial disputes, consumer finance and commercial claims.
You will have responsibility for progressing matters from initial instruction through to settlement or litigation, working closely with clients and other stakeholders throughout.
- Managing a caseload of contentious matters with appropriate supervision and support.
- Advising clients on a range of commercial, financial and civil disputes.
- Conducting initial assessments of potential claims and advising on prospects and strategy.
- Drafting correspondence, letters of claim, pleadings, statements of case and other legal documentation.
- Issuing and progressing court proceedings where appropriate.
- Dealing with disclosure, evidence, applications, directions and other procedural matters.
- Negotiating settlements and participating in alternative dispute resolution where appropriate.
- Liaising with clients, opponents, counsel, experts and other third parties.
- Managing case progression in accordance with the Civil Procedure Rules and relevant pre-action protocols.
- Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Providing a high level of client care throughout the litigation process.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider litigation team.

Direct experience of financial mis-selling is not essential. The key requirement is a solid grounding in contentious work and an interest in developing within a specialist litigation environment.
- Qualified Solicitor with experience in a contentious legal environment.
- Good understanding of civil litigation procedure and the Civil Procedure Rules.
- Experience managing your own caseload, with appropriate supervision where required.
- Strong legal research, drafting and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach to dispute resolution.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
This role would suit a solicitor who is looking to broaden or develop their litigation expertise and gain exposure to a growing specialist area.
