PI Account Handler - #2121902
Stride Resource Management
If you already handle Professional Indemnity business and find yourself increasingly drawn towards the more technical end of the market, this is a role worth considering. It is particularly relevant if you have experience with construction PI, architects, engineers, design and construct risks, or other professions where understanding the detail behind the exposure matters.
This is a Manchester-based PI Account Handler position with an established specialist insurance brokerage. The salary is £35,000-£45,000 depending on experience, with hybrid working and the opportunity to develop further within a business where Professional Indemnity is a genuine area of expertise rather than one class among many.
The opportunity
There is a noticeable difference between handling PI within a general commercial book and working around people who understand the market properly. This role gives you the latter, with a particular bias towards construction-related Professional Indemnity risks and the technical issues that come with them.
You will support the management of an established portfolio, working closely with colleagues and insurers to make sure risks are presented properly, renewals are handled thoroughly and clients receive informed advice throughout the policy lifecycle.
For somebody who enjoys PI but wants greater exposure to construction risks, this offers a sensible route to deepen that specialism without needing to move away from account handling or client servicing.
What the role involves
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Managing renewals, mid-term adjustments and general servicing across a portfolio of Professional Indemnity clients.
- Handling construction PI risks, including businesses involved in areas such as architecture, engineering, consultancy and design.
- Preparing renewal information and insurer submissions, making sure the relevant risk information is captured and presented clearly.
- Liaising with insurers and specialist PI markets regarding terms, cover, queries and placement requirements.
- Working closely with Account Executives and broking colleagues to provide a consistent service to clients.
- Reviewing policy documentation and helping clients understand the cover being arranged.
- Building your technical knowledge of Professional Indemnity and the changing risk considerations affecting construction professionals.
Who this role could suit
- The strongest fit will be somebody already working within commercial insurance who has hands-on Professional Indemnity experience. You might currently be a PI Account Handler, Professional Risks Account Handler, Broker or technically focused Commercial Account Handler who has developed a genuine interest in professional risks.
- Experience of construction PI would be particularly useful, although you do not necessarily need to have spent your entire career specialising in it. Exposure to architects, consulting engineers, design and construct, surveyors or related professional risks would all translate well.
- You will need to be comfortable dealing with detailed insurance information, speaking with insurers and managing renewals where simply rolling the policy over is not good enough.
Why consider it?
- The attraction here is the combination of specialism and stability. You can build deeper expertise in a technically interesting area of the Professional Indemnity market while remaining in a hands-on broking and account handling role.
- You will be joining colleagues who work with PI regularly, which means there is relevant experience around you and the chance to become more technically accomplished rather than being expected to cover every class of commercial insurance.
- The Manchester location also comes with hybrid working, giving you a balance between being around the team and having flexibility during the week.
Salary and benefits
- Salary of £35,000-£45,000, depending on experience.
- Hybrid working from Manchester.
- Exposure to specialist construction Professional Indemnity business.
- The opportunity to deepen your technical PI knowledge within an established brokerage environment.
- A role that can suit an experienced Account Handler looking for a stronger specialism without giving up the parts of broking they already enjoy.
