Consula Group LTD

Consula is working with a housing-focused organisation to recruit a compassionate and proactive Tenancy Support Officer. This is a client-employed role, with the successful candidate joining the hiring organisation directly.

This position is ideal for someone who is motivated by helping people sustain safe, stable and positive homes. You will work directly with tenants who may be facing a range of practical or personal challenges, providing clear guidance, building trust and helping them access the support needed to maintain their tenancy.

The role combines person-centred support with practical case coordination. You will work alongside tenants, colleagues, landlords and partner agencies to identify barriers, agree realistic goals and help people move towards greater independence.

About the role

As Tenancy Support Officer, you will manage a varied caseload and provide tailored support to tenants at risk of tenancy breakdown, arrears, isolation or other housing-related difficulties. You will take time to understand each person’s circumstances, create practical support plans and review progress regularly.

You will be confident communicating with people from different backgrounds and able to remain calm, respectful and solution-focused when situations are complex. You will also maintain accurate records, recognise when concerns need to be escalated and work in line with relevant safeguarding, confidentiality and organisational procedures.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working flexibly, including meeting tenants in their homes and local communities where appropriate.

Key responsibilities

•Provide practical, person-centred support to tenants to help them sustain their tenancy and live independently.

•Complete initial assessments and agree clear, realistic support plans with tenants.

•Offer guidance on issues such as budgeting, benefits, rent payments, household management, access to services and community connection.

•Identify risks to tenancy sustainment and take prompt, appropriate action to prevent avoidable breakdown.

•Work collaboratively with housing colleagues, local services, health providers, voluntary organisations and other relevant partners.

•Maintain accurate case notes, support plans, outcome records and referral information.

•Support tenants to attend appointments, access relevant services and understand their housing responsibilities where required.

•Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and follow organisational escalation procedures.

•Monitor progress against agreed plans and adapt support when circumstances change.

•Contribute to a professional, respectful and tenant-focused service.

About you

You will have experience working with people in a support, housing, community, advice, welfare, health, homelessness, care or customer-facing environment. You will understand the importance of treating people with dignity and respect while maintaining clear professional boundaries.

You will be organised, confident managing a caseload and able to record information accurately. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to build rapport, listen well and explain information clearly.

Experience of tenancy sustainment, homelessness prevention, benefits advice, debt support, housing management or safeguarding would be beneficial. However, the client is also interested in candidates with transferable experience and the right values.

A relevant qualification in housing, advice and guidance, community work, social care, welfare, customer support or a related field is desirable, although equivalent experience will be considered.

What the client offers

The successful candidate will join a supportive team committed to helping tenants achieve stability and independence. This is an opportunity to do meaningful work, build strong professional relationships and see the direct impact of the support you provide.

To apply, simply submit your CV through Consula using the application route provided with this Reed advert.

Please ensure your CV demonstrates relevant experience in housing, tenancy support, customer support, casework, community services or a related field.

Consula and its client are committed to equal opportunity. Applications are welcomed from suitably qualified candidates of all backgrounds.
