Manufacturing Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a forward-thinking engineering and manufacturing business. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys improving processes, driving efficiencies, and working closely with production, quality, and design teams to deliver world-class manufacturing performance.
Day-to-day of the role:
Process Improvement & Manufacturing Development
- Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes.
- Design and implement process flows and production layouts to maximise efficiency.
- Analyse production workflows and identify opportunities for process and cost improvements.
Production Support
- Provide technical support to production teams and resolve manufacturing challenges.
- Work collaboratively with shop-floor personnel to identify and implement practical solutions.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards across manufacturing operations.
Equipment & Tooling
- Specify, select, and oversee the installation of new manufacturing equipment.
- Maintain and improve existing production and testing equipment to enhance productivity.
- Design and source fixtures and tooling to support manufacturing requirements.
Cost Reduction & Lean Manufacturing
- Analyse manufacturing costs and identify opportunities to reduce expenditure.
- Drive lean manufacturing initiatives to minimise waste and improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to optimise material usage and supplier solutions.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Produce and maintain manufacturing documentation, SOPs, work instructions, and process flow diagrams.
- Ensure process changes are accurately documented and communicated.
- Lead continuous improvement projects and training initiatives across production teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, or a similar environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and production systems.
- Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and project management skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 9001.
- Permanent right to work in the UK.
