A major infrastructure delivery organisation is seeking a Quality Inspector to join a high-profile civil engineering project. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in driving quality standards across complex construction activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, compliantly, and right first time. Your new role

As Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for managing independent site inspections and promoting a positive quality culture across project delivery teams. Acting as the first line of defence for quality assurance, you will provide on-site coaching and training to delivery teams, helping to prevent defects and ensure compliance with project requirements.Your duties will include carrying out formal inspections of works throughout construction and at completion, ensuring all activities are undertaken in accordance with approved detailed designs, work information, and client requirements. You will work closely with delivery teams, subcontractors, and quality professionals to communicate quality expectations, identify non-conformances, and support corrective actions.
You will also:

  • Conduct and document quality inspections across a designated project area.
  • Promote a "right first time" approach to quality management.
  • Act as the key point of contact for quality-related matters on site.
  • Support Quality Engineers with site surveillance and inspections.
  • Assist in the preparation of Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and handover documentation.
  • Ensure all quality hold points and assurance requirements are adhered to.
  • Attend and represent the quality function at Start of Shift meetings and Collaborative Planning sessions.
  • Escalate quality concerns and non-conformances to Quality Managers and Senior Quality Inspectors as appropriate.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Extensive experience carrying out on-site inspections against approved detailed designs.
  • Strong experience managing NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and quality assurance processes.
  • Previous experience working on civil engineering projects, ideally including precast concrete, piling, earthworks, and surfacing.
  • Good computer literacy, including MS Word and Excel.
  • Relevant CSCS Card.
  • Quality-related on-site training experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence site teams and subcontractors.
  • A proactive approach to promoting quality standards and continuous improvement.

Desirable qualifications and experience include:

  • Previous experience in a quality role on a major highways or infrastructure project.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
  • SMSTS qualification.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts.
