About the job

The Opportunity:

A growing professional services firm is looking to appoint a Senior Manager, within the Office of the CFO department, to join its expanding advisory team. Working with a portfolio of mid-market and owner-managed businesses, this role sits at the intersection of finance leadership, client advisory and operational delivery.

Created as a result of sustained growth, this newly established position will also play a key role in strengthening the firm's presence in the local market, developing client relationships and supporting future business development activity.

You will act as a trusted adviser to clients, overseeing core finance activities while leading strategic projects, improving processes and delivering commercial insight. The role offers exposure to a broad range of industries and the opportunity to influence decision-making at a senior level.

The Role:

Client Leadership:

  • Lead the delivery of finance services for a portfolio of clients, ensuring work is completed accurately, on time and within budget.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders, becoming a trusted adviser to their businesses.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of management accounts and statutory reporting.
  • Provide commercial finance insight and recommendations to support business performance.

Advisory and Project Delivery:

  • Lead one-off finance projects, including systems implementations, process improvements and control reviews.
  • Support finance transformation programmes and financial remediation exercises.
  • Collaborate with specialist teams across the wider business to deliver joined-up solutions for clients.
  • Identify opportunities to add value through additional advisory services.

Team Leadership:

  • Manage, mentor and develop members of the finance team.
  • Determine resource requirements and ensure teams have the right experience and technical capability to deliver an exceptional client experience.
  • Support the wider leadership team in achieving departmental objectives and financial targets.

About You:

The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:

  • ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience gained within practice, industry or outsourced finance environments.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge across UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • A track record of managing client relationships and leading teams.
  • Experience delivering finance projects and driving process improvements.
  • The ability to translate financial information into practical, commercial recommendations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience using finance systems, cloud accounting platforms and technology-led solutions.

What's on Offer:

  • Hybrid and agile working.
  • Private medical insurance and life assurance.
  • Enhanced family leave policies.
  • Generous holiday allowance, including the option to buy or carry over leave.
  • Paid volunteering days.
  • Competitive pension and wider benefits package.
  • Clear opportunities for progression within a growing advisory team.

Why Consider It?

This role offers the opportunity to move beyond traditional compliance and reporting responsibilities into a broader finance leadership position, supporting multiple businesses with everything from day-to-day finance operations to transformation projects and strategic decision-making.

It would suit someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with commercial advisory work and wants exposure to a diverse portfolio of clients.
