About the Role

As an Automotive Learning Coach, you will provide coaching, mentoring, assessment support, and progress reviews for apprentices undertaking programmes including:

  • Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician
  • Bus and Coach Engineering Technician
  • Heavy Vehicle Manufacturing and Engineering pathways
  • Trailer maintenance and associated engineering disciplines

You will work collaboratively with apprentices, employers, and internal curriculum teams to ensure learners remain engaged, on track, and successfully achieve their apprenticeship outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support a caseload of approximately 40 apprentices.
  • Conduct regular learner progress reviews and coaching sessions.
  • Monitor apprentice development against apprenticeship standards.
  • Support learners in developing their technical knowledge, skills, and behaviours.
  • Work closely with employer mentors and managers to drive apprentice progression.
  • Maintain accurate learner records and compliance documentation.
  • Identify and implement interventions where additional learner support is required.
  • Prepare apprentices for gateway and End-Point Assessment.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout the learner journey.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Industry experience within HGV, heavy vehicle, commercial vehicle engineering, fleet maintenance, manufacturing, or trailer engineering.
  • Strong understanding of heavy vehicle maintenance and engineering principles.
  • Previous experience within education, training, teaching, coaching, mentoring, or apprenticeship delivery.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with employers and learners.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Assessing qualification (A1, TAQA, CAVA or equivalent).
  • Teaching qualification (PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS, Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting apprenticeships within automotive or engineering sectors.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship standards relating to heavy vehicle maintenance, bus and coach engineering, or manufacturing engineering.
