Stafford Lawrence is recruiting for a longstanding client a mid-sized Construction Cost Consultancy & Multidisciplinary Practice to secure a Chartered Senior Quantity Surveyor for their growing team in Central Manchester.

The Role of the Chartered Senior Cost Consultant Manchester

Operating from a vibrant central Manchester hub with excellent hybrid flexibility, you will manage a varied portfolio of build projects from inception to completion across all RIBA stages. This role balances technical independence with team collaboration and client ownership.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver robust pre- and post-contract cost management and contract administration across a variety of residential, commercial, education, and mixed-use developments.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing timely, accurate cost reporting and strategic procurement advice.
  • Administer JCT Contracts with confidence - knowledge of NEC Contracts is highly desirable.
  • Work autonomously with occasional senior guidance, while stepping up to assist in mentoring and developing the office's junior surveyors.
  • Interface directly with key stakeholders, building strong client relationships and supporting regional business development initiatives.
Candidate Requirements

This position is ideal for an ambitious Quantity Surveyor ready to step into a definitive Senior role, or an established Senior Cost Consultant looking for a company with a superior culture and better career progression.

  • Professional Status:MRICS Chartered status is preferred, or candidates working towards APC.
  • Education: A formal Degree qualification BSc in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or an RICS-accredited equivalent.
  • Technical Experience: Strong, proven UK consultancy background PQS with solid pre- and post-contract expertise under JCT forms of contract.
  • Sector Breadth: Experience delivering major Build sector projects -Residential, Commercial, Mixed-Use, Healthcare, or Education.
  • Skills & Fit: Exceptional communication and client-liaison skills. Some prior experience in mentoring or business development is highly desirable.
  • Right to Work: Candidates must possess a current, valid right to live and work in the United Kingdom. Our client is unable to provide visa sponsorship at this time.
  • Location: Based in the Manchester/North West region or genuinely looking to relocate to the area.
Salary & Package
