Resourcery Group

Resourcery Group are delighted to be partnering with a rapidly growing organisation in the not-for-profit sector to recruit a Payroll & Finance Lead.

Following significant growth over the last few years, this is an exciting opportunity to join the organisation at a key stage of its journey. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you'll play a pivotal role in leading the finance function while driving an important project to bring payroll in-house.

This is a varied role that combines operational finance with payroll leadership, making it ideal for someone who enjoys improving processes, ensuring compliance and working collaboratively across the business.

The role is predominantly home based, however you'll need to be visible within the business from time to time, attending the Manchester office and other North West locations as required. Applicants must therefore be based in the North West and able to travel when needed.

About the role

You'll work closely with the Finance Director to oversee day-to-day finance operations, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting and smooth financial processes. Alongside this, you'll take ownership of the monthly payroll, leading the transition from an outsourced provider to a fully in-house payroll function.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys improving systems, streamlining processes and making a real impact within a growing organisation.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of an accurate and compliant monthly payroll
  • Manage the transition of payroll from an outsourced provider to an in-house function
  • Oversee payroll compliance, pensions and statutory payments
  • Manage core finance operations including reconciliations, purchase ledger, VAT and cashflow support
  • Prepare journals and ensure financial information is accurate up to trial balance
  • Support budgeting, financial reporting and audit requirements
  • Develop and improve finance and payroll processes as the organisation continues to grow
  • Work collaboratively with HR and operational teams to provide financial and payroll support across the business
About you

We're looking for an experienced finance professional with a strong payroll background who enjoys taking ownership and driving improvements.

You'll ideally have:

  • A recognised payroll or accountancy qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent experience)
  • Significant experience in both finance and payroll
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, pensions and statutory requirements
  • Experience producing accounts to trial balance
  • Excellent Excel and finance systems knowledge (Xero experience would be advantageous)
  • A proactive approach with excellent organisational skills
  • The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues
  • A collaborative, solutions-focused mindset
What's on offer
  • Salary of £45,000
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Hybrid working with the flexibility to work primarily from home
  • The opportunity to play a key role within a growing and purpose-driven organisation
  • A varied role with real scope to influence and improve finance and payroll processes

If you're an experienced payroll and finance professional looking for a role where you can genuinely make an impact, please get in touch!
