Robert Half is partnering with an established and growing SME based in Greater Manchester in sought of an experienced Interim Financial Controller to join the business on an initial 3 month contract. This is a hands on leadership role, ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast paced environment, driving improvements, and supporting the business with high quality financial reporting and commercial insight.
Reporting into the Finance Director, you will lead a team of 6-7 finance professionals across management accounting and treasury while taking ownership of the group's financial reporting, cash flow management, and finance operations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the monthly group management accounts process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Manage group cash flow, including weekly and 13-week cash flow forecasting.
- Oversee treasury activities, cash management, and working capital.
- Manage intercompany reconciliations, group consolidations, and multi-entity reporting.
- Support statutory accounts preparation, external audit, and tax compliance.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of management and treasury accountants.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to provide financial insight, variance analysis, and commercial support.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and controls.
We're looking for a commercially minded finance leader who thrives in an SME environment and is comfortable balancing strategic oversight with hands on delivery.
You will have:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar senior finance leadership role.
- A strong background in management accounting, treasury, and cash flow forecasting.
- Experience of group consolidations, intercompany accounting, and multi-entity reporting.
- Previous experience leading and developing finance teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Advanced Excel skills, with Power BI and SQL experience being advantageous.
- SME experience with the ability to adapt quickly and make an immediate impact.
- Immediate availability.
- Initial 3-month interim contract with the potential for extension.
