Are you a Senior Game Designer or Head of Game Design with a passion for game mathematics, mechanics, and player engagement?

New Head of Game Design Opportunity – Slot Games We are partnering with an established gaming business to recruit a Head of Game Design for an exciting new studio in Manchester.

This is a critical leadership position within the studio, offering the opportunity to help build and develop a high-performing team focused on game mechanics, mathematical performance, and product delivery. Working closely with the Head of Studio, you will lead a team of Game Designers and Mathematicians whilst remaining hands-on in the development and modelling of new games.

This opportunity could suit an existing Head of Game Design or a Senior Game Designer looking to take the next step into a leadership role, provided they have experience mentoring or guiding other team members.
The Role As Head of Game Design, you will take ownership of the game design function, ensuring games are mathematically robust, commercially successful, and aligned with product objectives. You will play a key role in defining game mechanics, balancing gameplay, analysing performance, and validating concepts through simulation and modelling.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and developing a team of Game Designers and Mathematicians.
• Working closely with the Head of Studio to define the product roadmap and game portfolio.
• Designing and developing game mechanics, features, and reward structures.
• Creating and reviewing mathematical models and simulations to evaluate game performance.
• Defining RTP, volatility, hit frequency, and other key performance metrics.
• Analysing game data and performance to optimise player engagement and commercial outcomes.
• Ensuring all game concepts meet regulatory and technical requirements.
• Collaborating with development, product, and commercial teams throughout the game lifecycle.
• Establishing best practices, processes, and standards across the game design function.

About You We are looking for an experienced game design professional with a strong understanding of game mathematics and mechanics within the gaming or gambling sector.
You will ideally possess:

• Experience designing slot gaming products.
• Strong knowledge of game mathematics, probability, RTP, volatility, and balancing.
• Experience creating and analysing mathematical simulations and game models.
• A data-driven and analytical approach to game design.
• Previous experience mentoring, coaching, or managing team members.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• The ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on game design responsibilities.
• A passion for creating commercially successful and mathematically engaging gaming products.
