Learning and Development Manager - #2090585
Orwins
Join Orwins at exactly the right moment. We are building our L&D function from the ground up and we are looking for someone brilliant to lead it.
This is a rare opportunity to design and own an L&D strategy for a growing national law firm — with the full support and direct access of the Chief People Officer, a blank canvas, real budget and a genuine mandate to make it excellent.
If you are an experienced L&D professional who wants more than just maintaining what already exists, this is your role.
What You Will Be Doing
- Designing and delivering the firm's Learning & Development strategy – from induction and early career through to senior leadership development.
- Building and launching Orwins University – creating a culture of continuous development across the firm.
- Overseeing our graduate training programme, SQE support and paralegal development pathways.
- Leading the Talent Management Programme - identifying, developing and investing in our future leaders through a structured development journey.
- Designing and delivering leadership and management development for our existing leadership team — including coaching programmes, 360 feedback cycles and skills-based development.
- Working closely with the CPO to align L&D activity to the firm's people strategy, Cultural Foundations and appraisal cycle.
- Building relationships with external providers, coaches and facilitators — and knowing when to bring them in and when to deliver in-house.
- Managing the L&D budget transparently and demonstrating the return on investment of everything you do.
What We Are Looking For
You are an experienced L&D professional – ideally with a background in professional services or legal — who has designed and delivered programmes at multiple levels, from graduate to executive.
You are creative, commercially minded, and able to work autonomously. You understand that development is a business lever, not just a people perk. Ready to build AI into everyday practice – but knowing at the heart of what we do are people – whether they be your colleagues, our clients or our suppliers, you put the human element first. CIPD or equivalent qualification is desirable.
What You Will Get
At Orwins, we invest in our people just as much as our future. Our future is our people. This is a firm where your voice is heard, your contribution is recognised, and your development is taken seriously — not just talked about.
You will get genuine access to our C-Suite, senior partners, leaders and experts from day one, working closely with a team that values expertise, supports each other and takes pride in doing things well. We are growing fast, and the people who join us will grow with us too.
