With a reputation for delivering high-quality work across commercial and residential sectors, the company continues to grow due to its focus on professionalism, customer service, and staff development. They foster a collaborative and rewarding environment with a genuine commitment to long-term career progression.

Your new role

Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-driven Estimator to play a key role in planning and delivering successful projects across the North West. The ideal candidate will take ownership of the full estimating process-from reviewing enquiry documentation and assessing site conditions, to preparing accurate bids and supporting project handover. This role is essential in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, profitably, and to the highest standards.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Reviewing enquiry documentation including specifications, drawings, Bills of Quantities, and scope of works.

  • Conducting site visits for refurbishment projects to gather accurate dimensional data and assess site logistics.

  • Performing accurate take-offs from drawings, factoring in waste, transportation, and storage requirements.

  • Determining the full cost of materials, labour, plant, and access aligned with project specifications.

  • Identifying works that require subcontractor input and obtaining competitive quotes.

  • Maintaining an up-to-date database of material, labour, and plant costs.

  • Working closely with the Commercial and Contracts teams to establish project budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.

  • Assessing potential risks or uncertainties in estimates and proposing mitigation strategies.

  • Preparing competitive, compliant, and accurate bids within set deadlines.

  • Maintaining detailed records of estimates, submissions, and post-project reviews.

  • Supporting effective project handover to ensure the Contracts Department has all necessary information for smooth delivery.

What you will need to succeed:
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, especially within flat roofing.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and project specifications.

  • Proficient in using estimating software and Excel to calculate quantities and produce estimates.

  • Skilled negotiator with experience obtaining competitive subcontractor and supplier quotes.

  • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.

  • High level of attention to detail and ability to assess project risks and opportunities.

  • Excellent time management and ability to manage own workload effectively.

  • Clear and confident communicator with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships.

  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office.

  • A proactive, honest and dependable approach to work.

What you get in return:
  • Competitive salary based on experience

  • Performance-based staff bonus scheme

  • Car allowance

  • Corporate healthcare cash plan

  • 22 days holiday (rising to 25 with service)

  • Birthday and long service awards

  • Early finish on Fridays

  • Regular team social events

  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
