We are seeking a proactive and analytical Finance Analyst to join our dynamic Commercial Finance team at Slater & Gordon, one of the UK’s leading legal firms. You will play a key role in supporting financial analysis, interpreting large data sets, and contributing to the development of strategic insights that influence decision-making at senior levels. Key Responsibilities Analyse large and complex data sets to deliver clear, actionable insights to both finance and non-finance stakeholdersSupport monthly and quarterly reporting cycles, as well as ad hoc commercial analysisCollaborate with business teams on cross-functional projects and continuous improvement initiativesIdentify opportunities to enhance reporting efficiency and data accuracyPresent analysis outcomes in a clear and engaging manner, tailored for a range of audiences, including senior leadershipUse Alteryx and Excel (including advanced formulas, pivot tables, lookups, etc.) to automate and streamline processesContribute to the development of forecasting tools and performance dashboardsBring a commercial mindset to case intake data, highlighting trends, opportunities, and risksSupport with the successful implementation of a new business system Key Skills and Attributes Strong Excel skills essential; experience with Alteryx or other data transformation tools is desirableDemonstrated ability to interpret and manipulate large data sets efficientlyLogical thinker with the ability to simplify complexity and take the most efficient route to a solutionConfident communicator, able to explain technical analysis to non-finance audiencesCommercial acumen, with an eye for process improvement and value creationDesire and ability to learn new tools, methods, and conceptsA positive and proactive attitude, with a willingness to collaborate and contribute to a strong team cultureComfortable working independently while being highly collaborative in team settingsExperience in a finance, data analysis or commercial environment (legal sector not essential) Qualifications Financial qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) not required but would be an advantageDegree in a numerical or business-related subject desirable but not essential if experience is strong What We Offer Competitive salary and benefits25 days annual leave + bank holiday, with the option to purchase 5 additional daysHybrid working arrangements and flexible working culturepension scheme, health cash plan, life assurance and income protection insuranceA supportive and inclusive team environmentOpportunities for professional development and on-the-job learningExposure to senior leadership and strategic decision-makingInvolvement in projects that drive real business impact
