Join us as a Customer Due Diligence Analyst at Mettle
In this role within the Customer Due Diligence function, you will primarily focus on the Mettle proposition, supporting Boxed banking-as-a-service processes as needed. As a key part of our first line of defence against economic crime, you will ensure regulatory obligations are met, conduct efficient account reviews, and risk assess customers using various sources to confirm they meet our risk appetite.

In this role within the Customer Due Diligence function, you will primarily focus on the Mettle proposition, supporting Boxed banking-as-a-service processes as needed. As a key part of our first line of defence against economic crime, you will ensure regulatory obligations are met, conduct efficient account reviews, and risk assess customers using various sources to confirm they meet our risk appetite.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Conducting robust reviews of new Mettle account applications, ensuring our customers align with NatWest Boxed's risk appetite. You'll make fair and proportionate decline decisions where required
- Identifying and mitigating economic crime risks, escalating effectively when needed to protect both our customers and Mettle
- Operating diligently within NatWest Group policies and NatWest Boxed established processes, ensuring compliance and consistency
- Constantly seeking opportunities to enhance our processes for greater effectiveness and efficiency, helping us scale and improve
- Reviewing Know Your Customer (KYC) / Know Your Business (KYB) check reports and application data to prevent application fraud and truly understand the nature and purpose of the account
- Reviewing name screening hits for Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), Sanctions, and Adverse Press. This involves escalating true matches or making well-rationalised discounting decisions
- Investigating application fraud and other economic crime-related alerts from internal and external databases, like the Untoward Incident Database (UID) and Cifas
- Contacting customers, managing your chats within our Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and communicating clearly and concisely, always embodying Mettle's supportive tone of voice
Seeking a curious and innovative individual with CDD or Financial Crime knowledge. Recognised qualifications are helpful but not necessary - we can help you achieve these once you join. Strong communication skills and a focus on positive customer outcomes are essential.
You’ll also need:
- Previous experience in customer due diligence, economic crime prevention, or similar fields (e.g. AML, PEPs/Sanctions, KYC/KYB).
- A curious and analytical mind, adept at applying a risk-based approach to efficiently manage high volumes of work.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple priorities with precision and calm.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong command of English.
- Sharp critical thinking, sound decision-making, and exceptional time management.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive, self-starting approach to your work and record-keeping.
