About The Opportunity

Amentum are recruiting for a Senior Engineer - Core Ancillaries, this is a key role within the Nuclear Equipment team, and you'll have a significant input into how the team grows, be expected to have a strong influence on this and help to build a team SQEP of delivering the work required. The role will require leadership of people across multiple locations and will work with suppliers nationally and internationally which will require reasonable travel from time to time. Key responsibilities will be:

  • Be technically accountable for developing solutions within the defined scope
  • Provide a good level of domain knowledge and experience in the subject area relevant to this role
  • Work independently to solve complex technical problems, using a structured approach and seeking specialist advise where necessary. It is expected that the Senior Engineer will be a key individual contributor to the team’s delivery objectives.
  • Lead and supervise a small team of engineers where the role requires it.
  • Lead and define work to ensure the team deliver the defined scope as required.
  • Set objectives and run performance reviews where required. It is expected that the senior engineer is aligned to the overall team objectives within Components and Mechanical Equipment and is a leader in delivering these objectives at the working level.
  • Responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of their defined scope, feeding into the broader cross functional integrated plan and ensuring adherence to programme and budget.
  • Work with the Manager to define the activities for the team and be responsible for the work conducted
  • Be the point of contact for work within the defined scope, managing multiple stakeholders across different functions, and lead supplier engagements where required.
  • Responsible for the outputs within defined scope being to-time and to-quality, through technical reviewing, checking and process adherence to support the manager’s and senior manager’s accountabilities.
  • Show appropriate leadership behaviours and advocate for the team / department.

Here's What You'll Need

  • Chartered Engineer or demonstrate actively working towards achieving this, and also hold a degree level qualification in a relevant technical topic area.
  • Able to communicate and build relationships with a large variety of stakeholders across the business, covering functions such as component design, system design, analysis, verification,

manufacturing, supply chain, commercial, programme management and business development.

  • Experience with senior leadership, primarily within engineering but also across the different business functions, and will be capable of communicating with different levels of the business hierarchy.
  • Required to support engagements with external stakeholders, including customers, regulators and suppliers. This will include being capable of supporting a variety of discussion with third parties, as well as being capable of leading presentations on complex cross functional topics relevant to the role scope.
