Manchester Care & Repair
Date: 7 hours ago
City: Manchester
Contract type: Full time
Work schedule: Full day

Do you want to help make a difference for older people in Manchester? Get involved with the local community? Help us create a new Community space in Hulme? Manchester Care and Repair is looking for new Board members.
What difference will you make?
You will help us to maintain and expand our vital home adaptation, repair and support services for older people across Manchester, bring our vision for the new Community Hub in Hulme to life and develop our housing repair and community services to meet the challenges presented by climate change.
What are we looking for?
We are particularly looking for people with community development experience and/or marketing experience and welcome applications from people who have worked in the charity sector and/or with small to medium sized businesses
What will you be doing?
We are a long standing organisation with an excellent reputation for providing services that help older people and people with disabilities to live safely and independently in their own homes. We deliver more than 10,000 jobs a year working in people’s homes, providing practical and emotional support, adaptations, home repairs and welfare support. We will be moving to a new base, at Barrack Street in Hulme, within the next 12 months. Our new home is within the St George’s Building, we are going to convert this lovely Edwardian school into a net zero demonstrator site. It will be a warm/cool hub and will house a Reading Room, Tool Library and Community meeting space as well as providing permanent office space for Manchester Care and Repair Services. We have a number of delivery partners already in place to expand our offer to older people and want to reach out to more groups working in and around the Barrack’s Park area of Hulme. It's an exciting time and we hope you will feel inspired to join us to help us move to the next level.
