A&H Team Leader / Underwriter

A highly respected global insurer is seeking a skilled and motivated A&H Team Leader / Underwriter to join their team in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced A&H underwriter—or someone from a related line of business, who is ready to take a step into a leadership role.

This role sits within a dynamic and collaborative environment that values service excellence, innovation, and professional development. While experience in A&H is preferred, the organisation is also open to underwriters from other insurance lines who bring strong technical ability and a desire to manage and develop a small team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Underwrite A&H insurance products, assessing risk and determining appropriate coverage and pricing


• Manage the team’s workload to ensure high-quality service delivery to brokers


• Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical support to junior underwriters


• Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture


• Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders


• Contribute to the development and execution of underwriting strategies

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Proven experience in A&H or a strong background in another commercial underwriting line
  


• Leadership experience is desirable, but not essential


• Strong interest and capability in leading and developing a small team


• Excellent decision-making, analytical, and communication skills


• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
