Job description
The Commercial Planning Manager role is responsible for developing the operational and trading plans which underpin TalkTalk's financial, planning and analysis ("FP&A") process. Through business partnering with teams across TalkTalk you will deliver accurate customer base projections that drive our revenue and cost forecasts.
Strong relationship skills are essential, as you will be working collaboratively across marketing, sales, loyalty-retentions, digital, finance, commercial, supply chain, and product teams to create clear plans aligned with TalkTalk's commercial priorities and business strategy. These plans set the trading KPI which the business manages its weekly trading performance against.
You will be highly numerate and skilled in data analysis, which coupled with excellent communication and presentation skills enables you to give clarity to stakeholders on plan assumptions and KPI target rationale.
You will be proactive in managing forecast accuracy against commercial contracts, to minimise the penalties from unexpected variances and maximise the benefits from incentives.
Skills/Competencies/Qualifications
- Anaplan experience (ideally to 'Anaplan Certified Model Builder' or higher level).
- Management of forecast process (monthly roll, quarter targets, annual budget, and 3-year plan).
- Proven commercial ability and strong understanding of financial results and terminology.
- Business case preparation and valuation KPI.
- Excellent Excel skills.
- Strong stakeholder management.
- Organised and comfortable working at pace.
- Excellent analytical capabilities.
Your Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing TalkTalk forecast models, interlocking volume plans with FP&A in Anaplan planning software.
- Responsible for leading development of TalkTalk's new customer acquisition forecast; from market size, media spend, pricing Vs competitors, through sales to connection and bill payment. You will ensure that acquisition plan KPI are seamless and aligned to business priorities to give an accurate forecast for both online and agent channel sales and costs.
- Responsible for the accuracy of network supplier forecasts Vs TalkTalk contractual commitments. Forecast accuracy is measured on a rolling three-month basis requiring close interlock with trading and product development teams.
- Responsible for converting the volume plan into supply-chain requirements to enable TalkTalk to manage stock levels and optimise working capital.
- Responsible for championing with technology and data-engineering the provision and availability of all data underpinning the planning process. The planning KPI need to be seamless from multi-year budgets through to daily trading KPI actual Vs forecast.
- Accountable for ensuring that the volume plans align to the latest product development and technical roadmaps.
- Automation of required data into Anaplan planning software.
