An independent fire and building safety consultancy is seeking a highly capable Associate Fire Engineer to lead and expand their fire engineering function in Manchester.
The successful Associate Fire Engineer will join a respected and collaborative firm, delivering expert solutions across commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments, while supporting clients through design, construction, and compliance stages.
The Associate Fire Engineer's Role

The Associate Fire Engineer will lead the delivery of complex fire engineering strategies and provide high-level technical input into building design, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Operating across RIBA stages 2-6, the role will include:

The Associate Fire Engineer's Role
Role
The Associate Fire Engineer will lead the delivery of complex fire engineering strategies and provide high-level technical input into building design, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Operating across RIBA stages 2-6, the role will include:
- Managing a portfolio of large-scale projects across the North West and beyond
- Leading fire strategy development and sign-off processes
- Providing oversight on CFD modelling, evacuation analysis, and smoke control
- Supporting client relationships and new business activity
- Mentoring and reviewing work from junior and mid-level engineers
- Engaging with Building Control, fire services, and design teams
- Chartered or near-chartered (CEng or MIFireE) Fire Engineer
- Minimum 6 years' consultancy experience
- Proven track record managing complex fire strategies across a variety of sectors
- Strong technical understanding of BS 9991, BS 9999, ADB, and fire engineering principles
- Team leadership or line management experience (desirable)
- Based in or around Greater Manchester, with flexibility for occasional site travel
- £80,000 - £90,000
- Performance-based bonus scheme
- Hybrid/flexible working arrangement

- Training budget and support for CPD/chartership mentoring
