CDM Principal Designer
About the Role
We are working with a global leader in property & construction to find a CDM Principal Designer for their Manchester office. With a strong focus on sustainability and innovation, our client is committed to creating environments that promote health, safety, and efficiency across commercial, residential, and industrial properties throughout the United Kingdom.
The company provides a wide range of services, such as property management, investment, valuation and development. In the UK alone, they have played crucial roles in landmark projects like such as major urban redevelopment initiatives, focusing on sustainability and community impact.
Responsibilities
- Serve as CDM Principal Designer, providing expert guidance throughout project lifecycles
- Deliver proactive CDM/H&S advice to various internal and external clients across the Northern region
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of UK Construction Safety Legislation to ensure regulatory compliance on all projects
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety standards
- Provide advice on safety matters and implement effective H&S programs for projects on all aspects of construction and engineering projects
- Assist in training and mentoring staff on H&S legislation, best practices, and compliance requirements
Skills & Attributes
Our client is looking for a professional with extensive safety expertise and capable of challenging designers and implementing robust programs. The role requires ability to work and communicate well within a team, balancing assertiveness with professionalism while handling confidential information with appropriate discretion.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate (required)
- Technical IOSH membership or above (required)
- APS membership (preferred)
- IMaPS status or actively working toward it
- Demonstrable understanding of CDM processes and regulations
- Experience with fire regulations and asbestos management (preferred)
What is Offered
The position includes flexibility with remote work, but adaptability to working arrangements is required as office presence and field visits are required. Sporadic day trips abroad may be required too.
- Competitive salary range of £50,000-£60,000
- Car allowances, performance bonus, pension scheme
