Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Leaving Care Personal Advisor to work with Manchester City Council on a temporary assignment. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday, between 08:00 - 20:00).

This role involves supporting young people aged 16–25, who are leaving care, to transition into independent adulthood. You will provide tailored support, build positive relationships, and work closely with internal and external agencies to give young people the tools they need to thrive.

Main Duties:

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with young people to help them prepare for adulthood
  • Manage a caseload and maintain accurate records in line with statutory requirements
  • Assess, plan, and deliver support packages that meet each individual’s needs
  • Contribute to and review Pathway Plans, ensuring young people’s voices are heard and reflected within their plans
  • Provide practical assistance around finances, accommodation, education, employment, health, and wellbeing
  • Act as a key liaison between the young person and partner agencies to ensure an integrated and coordinated approach
  • Support young people beyond the age of 21, particularly where additional needs or education and training pathways emerge
  • Represent the service at multi-agency meetings and promote positive outcomes for young people leaving care

Essential Criteria:

  • Prior experience of working with vulnerable young people or within a social care/support environment
  • An in-depth understanding of the statutory responsibilities and duties for looked after children in line with the Children Act 1989, Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000, and related regulations
  • An understanding of relevant legislation and statutory guidance including Working Together 2014, MSCB Safeguarding Procedures, Domestic Abuse awareness, Children Act 2004, Children and Families Act 2014
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – able to engage, support, and influence effectively
  • Able to work independently, manage caseloads, and make sound judgments under pressure
  • Full UK driver’s licence with access to own vehicle
  • Enhanced DBS certificate
