Their teams are passionate about using their expertise to find solutions to complex problems in water, environment, infrastructure, resource management, energy, and international development.They currently have several opportunities within their Flood Risk & Water team due to the ongoing growth of their client base, as well as several new major project wins. They are seeking an Associate Director to support their Water Engineering teams throughout the UK. The roles would ideally be based out of their Manchester or Leeds offices, but for the right candidate there is flexibility to be based out of any of their UK regional offices. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to lead a wide variety of major and challenging infrastructure projects across the private and public sectors. Our client’s current portfolio includes a broad spectrum of projects from flood alleviation schemes (FAS) for local authorities, such as the Derby Riverside FAS, for the Ministry of Defence, and for private sector clients; through to surface water separation schemes for water utility providers. They have been successful across a number of recent commissions with United Utilities supporting their “Better Rivers” programme to reduce CSO spills across the northwest of England. They are embedded with several high-profile housing developers, providing solutions for their flood risk challenges, including design of natural flood risk management and Sustainable Urban Drainage solutions. Their varied client and project base provides the team with exciting challenges, which in turn helps them to continually improve their skills and knowledge across the sector. As a project leader, you will guide the team and support the clients in the delivery of the project portfolio as well as support bidding and proposition activity as they continue to grow.ABOUT THE PERSONOur client is looking for high calibre, experienced individuals to lead projects through their full lifecycle. Suitable candidates should be able to demonstrate:
  • Experience in the delivery and leading flood risk and/or surface water separation projects from solution development, optioneering and design in line with the relevant guidance.
  • Experience in strategic catchment planning and decision making.
  • Experience in writing reports and presenting to internal and external partners.
  • Experienced in creating, developing and leading collaborative client relationships.
  • Experienced in working across and leading multidisciplinary teams to delivery projects efficiently and effectively, such as with hydraulic modellers, engineers and environmental consultants.
  • Experience in IT systems such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Civils 3D and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field and Chartered with the ICE or CIWEM.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently, a collaborative approach and a proven ability to deliver work on time.
  • Experience in bidding for work and developing new client propositions.
  • Be a team player displaying enthusiasm, flexibility and versatility.
  • Have the ability to mentor, encourage and support junior team members.
  • Hold a full UK Driving License.
