Claims Handler - #1707540
Horwich Farrelly

At HF, we do things differently. We recognise the value of our employees and understand that they set us apart from our competitors.
So, if you want to experience what life is like at HF, take a look at our Claims Handler vacancy within our Outsourced Solutions Department, where you will be providing case management support on a variety of claims on behalf of the UK’s leading insurers.
We are looking to hear from individuals who are based near our offices in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Birmingham, Southampton, or London.
What will you be doing?
The Claims department plays a crucial role in our business, handling claims while striving for the best customer experience in the UK insurer market. You will deliver a first-class experience to customers to get their claims dealt with quickly, requiring the support of specially trained, compassionate humans like you when our customers need it most.
Your day will be varied: helping customers solve problems, using your listening skills to ensure they receive the best advice, managing activity on all relevant aspects of claims to maximise cost control, and negotiating the best claim settlements. You will start by managing new claim registrations (FNOL/First Notification of Loss of Motor claims/Third Party claims), ensuring they are registered according to specific service level agreements.
Next, you will instruct relevant suppliers and investigators at the outset of each claim, validate policy coverage, consider clauses, warranties, and endorsements, and make accurate liability assessments to manage customer expectations.
Throughout, you will proactively communicate with customers and colleagues to manage expectations and achieve the best outcomes, while maintaining high standards in insurer relationships.
What’s in it for you?
This role offers a real opportunity to start a successful career in law. HF has a strong reputation for developing and nurturing employees, with many opportunities for progression and a rewarding, prosperous career.
What do I need?
Effective communication and listening skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to operate under pressure are essential. Customers often call when stressed, so providing clear, friendly, and efficient support is crucial.
Ideally, you will have at least 12 months of experience in a claim handling role, managing a defendant or insurer caseload. Experience with MOJ and OIC Portals is advantageous but not essential.
Above all, high-level customer service skills and an empathetic nature are critical, as we act for insurers to lead in customer service and cost management.
What our Partner and Head of Outsourced Solutions, David, says about the role:
“As a continuously evolving, dynamic team, we proactively seek for our team members to grow and develop their skills both within HF and with our clients. The HF approach is to support and empower teams to build upon their skills, work independently, and take initiative. We look forward to welcoming the successful candidate into our team, adding their knowledge and enthusiasm to our strong core.”
