Founded in 2023, HalioGen Power is a University of Manchester spin-off focused on disrupting the long-duration energy storage industry with our innovative flow battery. We partner with key institutions and accelerator programmes including SprinD, the Energy Innovation Agency, INEOS, Ansys, Innovate UK, PortXL and D2XCEL.

Tasks
- Develop and optimize CFD models for flow battery systems to improve design and performance.
- Perform simulations to predict fluid dynamics and chemical interactions within the battery system.
- Perform simulations to calculate pressure drops, flow separation, flow velocities, to identify dead zones and flow optimisation ways for the stack design team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design and R&D, to integrate CFD results into system designs.
- Identify and resolve engineering challenges related to fluid flow within flow battery systems.
- Support the validation of CFD models with experimental data and prototype testing.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by staying up to date with the latest CFD techniques and best practices.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in CFD modelling, preferably in the energy, battery, or electrochemical systems industry.
- Strong expertise in CFD simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL) .
- Willing to understand the flow battery technology and related fields such as fluid dynamics and electrochemical reactions.
- Experience with multi-phase flow modelling, pressure drop analysis.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. A Master’s or Ph.D. is a plus.
