The post holder will oversee the delivery of the Old Age training Programme for the East (NW) part of the Scheme. They will work closely with the West (Liverpool) scheme TPD.
The post holder will support the Head of School in the strategic development of the North West School of Psychiatry and contribute to supporting the School Operational Programme.
The post holder will be a member of the School Board and Old Age Psychiatry Specialty Training Committee.
Main duties of the job
The Training Programme Director will focus on improving learner supervision, assessment, and experience, engaging faculty, and ensuring effective educational outcomes, both now and in the future. The role is evolving to also focus on workforce transformation and developing multi-professional links.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced NHS Consultant with a thorough understanding of Old Age Psychiatry training across the region, possessing strong leadership and communication skills, and able to work effectively as part of a multi-professional team.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry on the Specialist Register
- Member / Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists
- Currently working as a Consultant in an NHS Trust in North West England
- Postgraduate qualification such as a Certificate, Diploma, or Masters in Medical Education
Experience
- Significant experience working with doctors in an educational context
- Experience as an educational supervisor, especially for psychiatric trainees
- Understanding of the Workforce Transformation agenda
- Experience in recruitment processes
- Awareness of funding streams for healthcare education
- Clinical management experience
- Leadership experience in healthcare education (desirable)

Salary depends on experience. In line with TPD sessional payment.
