Senior Billing Analyst

Location: Manchester, UK

Hybrid Working: 2 days per week on site, 3 days WFH.

Role Purpose

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Billing Analyst to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end billing process, ensuring accurate and timely invoice delivery, resolving billing queries, and driving continuous improvement in billing operations. You will act as a subject matter expert and point of escalation for both internal and external stakeholders, while also contributing to process optimization and team development.

Key Responsibilities

Billing Operations:

  • Manage the full billing cycle for services and raw materials, including invoice creation, validation, and delivery
  • Utilise e-billing platforms (e.g., Ariba) to upload invoices, monitor portals, and address billing queries
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and customer queries
  • Provide data and support for internal and external audits.
  • Onboard new customers and ensure compliance with company policies

Team & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the first point of escalation for billing-related issues from internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Sales, Operations, IT) to resolve billing challenges and improve processes
  • Train, mentor and guide new billing team members
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive work instructions and process documentation
  • Support management with reporting, data analysis, and team guidance
  • Provide regular feedback to personnel on performance and communicate to Global Billing Manager

Process Improvement

  • Proactively identify and analyze root causes of billing errors and inefficiencies
  • Implement process improvements to streamline billing operations and enhance accuracy
  • Promote a culture of "getting it right the first time" within the billing team

Experience

Key requirements:

  • Multiple years of experience in a high-volume billing environment, preferably within a shared services or multinational organisation
  • Proven track record of successfully handling the end-to-end billing process
  • Experience with e-billing platforms (e.g., Ariba, Coupa) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
  • Strong understanding of billing regulations and best practices
  • Strong experience in guiding team members on resolution of issues.

Skills

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Other

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field would be an advantage
  • Experience in a customer-facing role is a plus
  • Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies is desirable.
