The Role

An outstanding opportunity has arisen to join a prestigious Tier 1 ranked Legal 500 law firm, renowned for providing expert legal advice to both businesses and individuals. As the firm continues to expand and strengthen its offerings, they are looking to appoint a skilled Costs Negotiator to become an integral part of their team of specialists, with a focus on Complex Injury cases.

In this role, you will manage your own caseload of Complex Injury cases, taking full ownership of the costs negotiation process. You will work closely with a team of experienced cost professionals, collaborating to ensure the efficient management and resolution of high-value and complex cases.

Your key responsibilities will include drafting detailed points of dispute, negotiating settlements with opposing parties, and reviewing case files to ensure that all costs are accurately calculated and justified. You will also be expected to provide expert cost-related guidance to lawyers, assisting them in the development of cost strategies and ensuring that costs are recovered effectively.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Proven experience in a Costs Negotiator role, confidently managing a caseload


• Thorough knowledge of costs law and the Civil Procedure Rules


• Skilled in negotiating costs, drafting points of dispute, handling replies, and advancing cases to Provisional and Detailed Assessments


• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritise tasks, and handle a varied caseload


• Effective in both independent work and collaborative team settings


• Strong legal insight and attention to detail


• Excellent organisational, time-management, and communication skills
