Senior Solution Architect

We are looking for a Senior Solution Architect to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital. In this role you'll be supporting either our Health & Disability or Children & Families functions.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • Business application Architecture design and modelling techniques, patterns, tools, and standards.
  • Public cloud technologies, design patterns containers, tools and best practices (especially AWS).
  • CICD delivery methodologies and best practices.
  • Relational, NoSQL and Open-Source database design/modelling, technologies and patterns
  • Significant experience in designing Microservice, event driven and API-led architecture recognising and guiding to best practice.

You and your role

We're looking for skilled architects who are confident working on products & services in a complex digital environment. As a Senior Solution Architect, you will design, implement and oversee the architecture of IT solutions that improve services for millions of DWP users.

We have opportunities on two teams. You will deliver the technical and architecture design elements for either Health & Disability or Children & Families functions.

You will will work collaboratively with engineers and other experts in multi-disciplinary teams, to create efficient solution designs that meet user needs. You'll ensure technical quality and adherence of product designs to DWP's Digital Blueprint, Enterprise Architecture and Product Roadmaps.

You will ensure the technical quality of our solutions and adherence of solution designs to the DWP Enterprise Architecture and Product Road maps. You will also identify, capture, share, iterate, and implement architecture patterns.

As well as an architecture expert we need you to be a communicator and a leader, capable of influencing good decision and making the complex simple to understand, whether that is in governance and design boards, talking to senior leaders, or working with your team.

Location: You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield, whichever is most convenient for you.

Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and sometime collaborating face to face in a hub.

Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £70,000.

Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £16,000 per year.

Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days and rising to 31 days over time.

You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.
