Who we are looking for


A Software Development Team Leader, who will help to coordinate and drive team efforts to deliver software solutions.


The Payments team is vital to the continued success of the Business, having responsibility for developing and supporting a growing number of critical systems. You will be working alongside some of the best developers in the industry and will receive exposure to cutting edge technologies, as well as having the opportunity to influence the technical direction of the team.


You will be responsible for building and leading a team of Software Developers of varying experience and skillsets. You will measure quality and delivery, whilst contributing to and driving improvements.


You will be required to retain a solid technical understanding of systems and remain close to the solutions being developed alongside a focus of processes, delivery and governance.


This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.


Preferred Skills, Qualifications and Experience



  • Extensive commercial development experience.

  • Proven track record in leading teams to deliver high quality solutions.

  • Developing low latency, highly available and scalable solutions.

  • Experience of distributed systems.

  • Good database application programming.

  • Experience in server-side development including Services, Systems, Messaging and Middleware.

  • Working on Linux and GNU utilities.

  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple streams of activity, shifting focus regularly.


Main Responsibilities



  • Assisting in driving the provision of a capable, reactive, motivated and delivery focused team.

  • Enforcing governance around quality, rules, standards and processes within the team.

  • Ensuring the solution meets the needs of the Business.

  • Ensuring the development process is conducted in a timely fashion.

  • Aiming to limit repeated steps with the development process.

  • Identifying and mitigating risk.

  • Removing blockers to delivery.

  • Analysing impact of change.

  • Mentoring members of the team and ensuring distribution of knowledge.

  • Inputting into the developer’s appraisals and other performance feedback.
