We believe that languages open doors to the world, and we are now looking for an inspiring and experienced Head of MFL to lead our dynamic languages department.


The Role:


As Head of MFL, you will lead the department in delivering high-quality teaching and learning across Key Stages 3–4 (and Key Stage 5 if applicable). You will be responsible for shaping the curriculum, promoting a love for languages, and ensuring strong student outcomes. All Specialisms are welcomed.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Provide strategic and inspirational leadership to the MFL department

  • Oversee curriculum development and delivery in French, Spanish, [or other languages offered]

  • Monitor and improve student progress and achievement in MFL

  • Support and mentor colleagues within the department

  • Organise enrichment activities, international trips, and language-focused events

  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives as part of the extended leadership team


Looking For:



  • A passionate and experienced MFL teacher with a proven track record of success

  • Expertise in at least one language (French/Spanish essential, additional languages desirable)

  • Leadership experience or the readiness to step into a leadership role

  • Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • A commitment to raising standards and supporting all learners
