Your Role
This role is a completely new role in a completely new team within GMCA Research. We are setting up a new Data sub-team, and this role is one of the first in that new team focused on data management and quality. So its definitely one that you can make your own!

Hybrid working
This role is part of GMCAs hybrid working scheme. Our hybrid working policy sets out a flexible approach, combining attendance at our [Manchester city centre office / Fire and Rescue service HQ in Swinton / other location] with remote working, typically from home; the location of work is primarily dictated by the needs of the business: Do what is right for you and the business on that day. Your Role
This role is a completely new role in a completely new team within GMCA Research. We are setting up a new Data sub-team, and this role is one of the first in that new team focused on data management and quality. So its definitely one that you can make your own!
- There are four areas of work we want you to take responsibility for:
- Lead the management of key Research data assets - managing our database of key data assets, including extract, transform and load processes.
- Implementing good data management practices - working with the Research team to put in place good data management, so that we are being efficient and effective with our data storage, access, and use.
- Delivering new cross-team data projects - working with the Research team and others to identify and deliver new data projects, such as sourcing, transforming and visualising information for insights.
- Improving data quality - making sure data is ready for analysis, in the right format and structure to enable analysts to deliver their work effectively.
- Opening data - supporting the release of key datasets to the public for transparency and wider use.
About You
- We are looking for someone with a background in managing data assets for a team, in ETL, and in improving the quality of data for analytics.
- You will be able to work closely with different teams to understand their needs.
- You will have experience of analysing data, and will have an understanding of how people would use the data.
- You will have a big picture perspective - considering how different projects and needs might all work together.
