Location: 1 day in Manchester or London office. Fully remote will be considered

Salary: £40,000 per annum

Role summary

Lead the creative vision and execution of digital design across the organisation. This role combines hands-on design, studio management, and team leadership within an in-house studio environment to deliver visually impactful and on-brand content across digital channels. You'll drive innovation, maintain brand integrity, and support business objectives through outstanding design solutions. The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in digital design, a strong portfolio showcasing creative excellence, leadership abilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal teams and stakeholders.

Key Deliverables

Brand Strategy

  • Be the guardian of the main brand and sub-brand identities.
  • Ensure designs reflect a modern, dynamic organisation aligned with audience needs.
  • Lead concept development from idea to execution.

Digital Design Execution

  • Deliver outstanding design work across websites, email, social media, digital ads, and more.
  • Ensure outputs are visually engaging, user-centric, and aligned with business goals.
  • Take full ownership of high-profile digital projects, from concept to launch.
  • Lead creative development with agencies to explore innovative ideas that boost engagement.

Workflow & Studio Management

  • Oversee the design workflow to ensure timely, high-quality project delivery.
  • Balance priorities and allocate resources effectively.
  • Implement efficient design project processes and ensure alignment with campaign needs.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor and support the Junior Digital Designer’s development.
  • Promote a collaborative, creative, and high-performing studio culture.
  • Review and ensure all team outputs are on brief and on brand.

Agency Management

  • Collaborate with external agencies across creative and copywriting to deliver on brief, on time, and within budget.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Engage closely with internal teams to understand business needs and translate them into effective design.
  • Present concepts and final deliverables clearly to stakeholders, integrating feedback effectively.
  • Balance creativity with commercial objectives and tight deadlines.

Qualifications

Skills & Experience Required

  • Degree in Digital Design, UX, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a digital design leadership role.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects), Figma, Sketch.
  • Familiarity with front-end principles (HTML, CSS).
  • Strong grasp of responsive design and digital UX best practices.
  • Confident presenting and explaining ideas to varied audiences.

Professional Experience

  • 5+ years in digital design with a portfolio of high-quality work.
  • Experience leading design projects from concept to delivery.
  • Prior studio management and junior designer mentoring experience.
  • Comfortable working with cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, comms, commercial, product).

Knowledge

  • Solid understanding of branding, creative concept development, and multi-channel design strategy.
  • Knowledge of the Private Rented Sector (PRS) is a bonus.
  • Comfortable using project management tools (e.g., Trello, Asana, Jira).
