Job Title: Environmental Engineer

Location: Barrow Mill, UK

Duration: 3 Months | 37.5 hours/week

Rate: £23.30/hour PAYE

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer to support environmental compliance and continuous improvement at Barrow Mill, Europe’s largest tissue facility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure site-wide environmental compliance with UK/EU legislation and corporate EHS standards.


• Maintain and enhance ISO 14001-certified Environmental Management Systems.


• Liaise with regulatory bodies (e.g. Environment Agency) on permits, reporting, and inspections.


• Provide technical support for wastewater treatment, emissions, waste, and radiation management.


• Support new project design and environmental risk assessments.


• Guide the implementation of best practices in effluent plant operations and fresh water use reduction.


• Oversee duty of care for waste and emissions compliance (air, land, water).

Requirements:

• BSc in Environmental Science (or related) + Diploma in Environmental Management.


• Minimum 5 years' experience in regulated environments (e.g. EA permitted facilities).


• Proven knowledge of wastewater treatment, radiation/Legionella control, and ISO 14000 systems.


• Reporting to: Barrow Mill EHS Manager.
