Design Manager - #1661287
ReWork Recruitment Group Ltd

Design Manager | £65,000–£75,000 per annum | Hybrid working | Office + Home + Site | New Build Retirement Care Homes | East Midlands
Not just another Design Manager role - an opportunity to change how people live in retirement.
Picture this: a quiet, sunlit living room where someone’s Grandad reads the paper each morning. A garden path wide enough for wheelchairs but with a design so thoughtful, it doesn’t feel like a “feature.” A dining space that feels more like a boutique hotel than a facility.
This is retirement living done differently. And you could be leading the design behind it.
We’re working with a progressive developer / contractor that’s re-imagining how retirement care homes are built and experienced in the UK. They believe design has the power to restore dignity, freedom, and joy for those in their later years and they’re looking for a Design Manager who shares that belief.
What’s the role really about?
You’ll be at the heart of the design journey, steering multiple new build care home projects from early concept through to construction. You’ll collaborate with design consultants, architects, and contractors to ensure each home is not only compliant and buildable, but genuinely beautiful and liveable.
Flexible working is the norm here if required. You’ll split your time between home, the office, and site visits, because staying close to the vision and the reality is key to making these homes something special.
You’ll thrive here if you:
- Have solid experience managing the design process on new build residential or care projects
- Know how to balance creative thinking with technical accuracy
- Speak both “architect” and “contractor” fluently
- Believe that great design can be empathetic and not just aesthetic
- Want to work on projects with genuine legacy
If that speaks to you, let’s talk.
