A Snapshot of Your Day
As a HVDC Controls Engineer you will work within a team of HVDC project management and engineering specialists to design and deliver full HVDC control and protection solutions for both wind farm grid connections and interconnectors making use of a new transient network analysis laboratory located in Manchester.
You will report to the Engineering Manager – HVDC C&P and will be required to provide engineering work packages in line with project and business objectives.

You will report to the Engineering Manager – HVDC C&P and will be required to provide engineering work packages in line with project and business objectives.
How You'll Make An Impact
- Design of open and closed loop control systems for high voltage direct current systems (HVDC).
- Preparation of design specifications, documentation, and effort estimations.
- Clarification of technical requirements within the project teams as well as with customers and suppliers.
- Implementation of control software in MATLAB/SIMULINK as well as verification using simulation tools and real-time test environments.
- Remote support of the commissioning team during the commissioning phase
- Remote support of the service team during the warranty phase
- Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical engineering or a comparable field of study
- Long term professional experience of energy and control technology
- Good knowledge in converter- and high voltage technology, as well as in open and closed loop controls
- Good MATLAB/SIMULINK knowledge including model-based implementation and verification
- Experience in the configuration of automation systems, preferably SIMATIC TDC / S7
- Very good English language skills, German language skills are an advantage
