What can you expect from CAF?
This role of Assistant Materials Manager is to support project operations in delivering materials and services as and when required to maintain fleet service, particularly focused on its depot location. They will report directly to the Senior Manager for direction and priorities, coordinate the material controller tasks in depot and work closely with both the Stores/Logistics and Procurement functions to fulfill all responsibilities.

This role of Assistant Materials Manager is to support project operations in delivering materials and services as and when required to maintain fleet service, particularly focused on its depot location. They will report directly to the Senior Manager for direction and priorities, coordinate the material controller tasks in depot and work closely with both the Stores/Logistics and Procurement functions to fulfill all responsibilities.
Your daily duties will include:
- Assist Senior Material Manager to ensure depot materials and services are available to facilitate operations and the maintenance activities for the project.
- Coordinate the material controllers tasks based on the designated depot
- Liaise with CAF costumers and other personnel related with material, stock inspections and audits as required.
- Generate analytics and KPI’s for material consumptions and report to Senior Material Manager
- Monitor and maintain the ERP system, providing quality and accurate information. Produce KPIs as required by line manager
- Continually review stock holding levels and set minimum order levels based on stock availability, supplier lead times and consumption rates
- When required by line manager, liaise with Procurement Department and Suppliers to order materials and services in a timely manner to ensure fleet performance is maintained.
- When required, place orders on the system to pre-approved suppliers to complete the purchasing administrative process for Logistics, Procurement and Operations
- When requested by line manager, participate and coordinate stock taking and control activities with regular review of CAF & Client ERP systems for accuracy
- Assess and support to ensure all the Material Controllers on depot are trained in CAF Procedures and systems
- Liaise with CAF costumer and other CAF personnel with materials transactions, queries, stock inspections and audits as required.
- Assist with any Stores and Logistics and Procurement staff training as and when required
- Ensure compliance with all HSQE requirements

What will make you successful in this position?
To succeed in this role you will need:
- English language and Mathematics standard grade 3 or above (or equivalent).
- CIPS qualified or working towards is desirable
- Proven previous experience in a Materials Management, Purchasing or Logistics roles
- Previous experience working in an Engineering or Rail environment is desirable
- Understanding of Mechanical & Electrical systems and components is desirable
